Welcome!

I am currently an Assistant Teaching Professor at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. I hold a PhD in Public Administration from the Askew School at Florida State University, an MS in Political Science from Florida State University, and a BS in Political Science from University of Pittsburgh. I am a policy process scholar, with particular focus on equity. My research, to this point, has focused on these elements of sustainability and local food system policies.

During my time at Florida State I served as a research assistant for the Local Governance Lab and participated in several National Science Foundation research networks. Some of the work I undertook in this capacity included development and execution of research plans; collecting, managing, and analyzing a variety of data; editing and assisting in the development of book manuscripts, academic papers, and grant proposals; and coordinating multi-university research team activities, including workshops.

In addition to my research work during my time at Florida State, I have also served as an editorial associate for Public Administration Review (PAR). Through this work, I gained unique insights into the publication process and grew my professional network. I’ve used my experience at PAR to mentor students, give presentations about the peer review process, and shape the way I approach being a reviewer.

I have also served as the instructor of record for the undergraduate Introduction to Public Administration course and online mentor (TA) for both undergraduate and graduate courses at Florida State University, gaining valuable experience teaching students at different academic levels and in both the classroom and online environments. I am currently a part-time lecturer at Rutgers-Newark, teaching the graduate-level Introduction to Public Administration and Public Policy Process classes.

Beyond my work within Universities, I have a variety of professional experience, from campaigns to consulting, that helps inform my work and how I advise my students. I also worked for the US Census Bureau’s Center for Economic Studies as graduate student trainee.

Outside of work, I am a mom, dog lover, knitter, and gardener. I enjoy being active in community events and supporting local businesses.
